Free Friday!

It’s the last Friday of July. It was a tough decision to pick the last free book, but I’ve been busy working on the next Holiday Cafe Book. I choose Masked Hearts as the last free book!

Masked Heart FOR WEB
Enjoy some Halloween fun in July!

I love, love, LOVED this book! Did I mention I loved it? Because I did. What we have here is the absolute perfect sweet yet sexy romance novel, all of which is centered around Halloween. I’ll admit, at first I was a little wary about how sexy this book could actually be. After all, our female lead character is a kindergarten teacher who sings in church choir on Sundays. But once she started debating the merits of having a f*%k buddy versus using her vibrator I was like, “Holy Hell, we’ve got a live one here!”

Veteran Hearts: New Cover for the 4th!

It’s Free Friday and I went the extra mile to put a new cover on Veteran Hearts:

I’ve also done something I wanted to do with the original release but I ran out of time; I’ve put fractals at the beginning of each chapter.

fractch2

Fractals are essentially never ending patterns. I would like to be known as the first romance author to have them in her book. I know, super geeky 🙂 But the main character in Veteran Hearts is a geek and loves an event in Albuquerque called Fractal Fridays.

She’s also hot to have sex with the hunky vet she’s in a book club with. Enjoy the excerpt and then download the book for FREE from All Romance. The new version is there exclusively. I won’t be uploading it to other vendors for awhile.

She walked back to her spacious closet and pulled out her most non-geeky, most frivolous, most expensive purchase ever: a pair of black stiletto Louboutin shoes. She’d bought the black apron with the crimson sash knowing it would be a perfect match to the black bow in the back of the shoes along with the trademark red soles. She’d never worn them anywhere but her house.

She sat on her bed, slipped them on and buckled the thin straps around her ankles. After walking back and forth in front of her bed to get used to the thin heels, she stepped over to the full-length mirror in the corner of her room and took a deep breath.

Followed by a sigh of relief. The black contrasted well with her pale skin. The top of the apron curved into the V of her breasts, appearing tasteful rather than slutty. She turned to see her bare back. Her ass wasn’t sculpted like an actress, but it wasn’t flabby either. In fact, it looked pretty good. The shoes did their job making her butt and breasts look their best—she’d finally feel like she’d gotten her money’s worth from the purchase if Kyle reacted as she hoped.

She turned to face herself again. A necklace would be perfect, but she didn’t own a lot of jewelry.
The doorbell rang. Another deep breath. She could do this. She gave herself a shy smile and walked away from the mirror.

Her heels clicked against the hardwood floor and to the front door. The scent of red chili and cheese filled her house. “Who is it?” she called.

“Kyle.”

She couldn’t tell from his voice if he was nervous or not. It hadn’t been loud, but he was never loud. She paused with her hand on the doorknob. She could do this. She could be vulnerable for him. She couldn’t think of any other man she’d wear an apron and nothing else for, but Kyle was everything she wanted in a man.

She turned the knob and swung the door open.

Kyle’s dark brown eyes widened. His jaw dropped. He stood with a bouquet of fall colored flowers and dusky roses. She thought he’d drop that too.

Her heartbeat sped up. His reaction was just what she’d hoped for.

There was no breeze, but the air was cold enough to harden her nipples beneath the apron. She noticed his eyes paused at her breasts as he kept looking her up and down.

“Come in,” she said with a grin. “I just need to take dinner out of the oven.”

She spun around on one of her spiked heels, thankful she hadn’t fallen yet and strutted towards the living room, which led back to the kitchen. After a moment, she worried that he wasn’t going to come in after all, but then the door slammed.

Fast footsteps told her he was coming right to her. The bouquet of flowers flew over the back of the couch and onto the cushions right before strong arms encircled her waist. He brushed his lips against her ear as he spoke. “I’m afraid dinner’s gonna burn.”

She put her head on her knees, trying to block out the rest of the world. But the cold from the rock crept through her ski pants and kept her alert. The sound of skis drew near.
To make the moment worse, she heard the voice that at breakfast had raised the hairs on the back of her neck. “Hey, anything I can do to help?” Continue reading

The Beautician and the Billionaire Episode 9

Good morning! Sorry for being MIA. Uploading all the books took it out of me as well as a super busy personal schedule. I’ve still got my fingers crossed for a May release of Nails for a Billionaire, but it might be the last day of May.

Please enjoy Episode 9:

Conor woke up to diffuse light on either side of the blue drapes in his cottage bedroom. Charisse faced away from him on her side with her brown curls spread out behind her almost close enough to tickle his cheek. His cock was hard and ready for her, but he had something to do before she woke up. Plus, he wasn’t sure if she’d be up for lovemaking.

He stared at the scarlet scratches against the bruises on her right arm and clenched his jaw with a fresh surge of anger. She’d been attacked in his house by someone he’d invited. A sheet covered her body, but he drew the comforter over her arms and shoulders to ward off the chilly morning. And so he wouldn’t have to see the bruises and scratches. It was over. She’d stood up to Josh and given him back some of his own. But he worried about what would happen while he was gone, especially if Becca broke up with Josh.

He pushed aside his worries by recalling last night. They’d cuddled on the couch and listened to music after dinner. They hadn’t talked much, but it was a comfortable silence with the contact of their bodies being what they needed most. He kissed her cheek gently, glad when she made no indication she was waking up.

Reluctantly he rolled away from her and slid out of bed. He grabbed his jeans and shirt from last night and slipped out to put them on downstairs.

When he was dressed, he located the box that had contained the rose necklace he’d given to Charisse and lined it with damp paper towels. He grabbed the pruning shears from below the sink and went out behind the house where there were still many miniature roses on the branches. A breeze chilled him, but he stood close to the bushes and studied each one carefully, trying to find three perfect roses to be immortalized in gold.

When Raul pulled up he’d managed to find two roses to clip.

Raul got out and walked towards him.

“Good morning, sir.”

Still studying the roses, Conor said, “Good morning. I told Charisse last night that you were staying behind to be her personal assistant. She’s fine with it.” He actually wasn’t sure how fine with it she was. She’d put up a brief protest until he suggested hiring a bodyguard instead.

Raul didn’t answer him. He probably didn’t believe him.

After a moment Raul said, “Did Charisse give you a prescription for me to fill?”

Conor frowned. All the roses seemed too flawed. He stepped to a new section. “No, she said she’d get it in the morning.”

Silence answered him again. He turned and faced Raul, wondering what Raul thought about Charisse claiming she had an ear infection. Raul held the small ice chest he’d requested.

Conor lowered his voice. “I’m worried there’s something she’s not telling me. The whole thing with her ear doesn’t seem right.”

Raul gave a glance towards the side of the house like he was checking to see if she was there. He said, “She had a rough afternoon, but she didn’t sound like herself when she was talking about the doctor’s visit. I was hoping to know better what was going on before you left.”

“Me too.” Conor turned back to the roses. He didn’t want to leave her, not while she was so vulnerable.

The situation in China wasn’t his fault, but he still needed to go. He couldn’t allow the company to crumble—there were too many jobs at stake. He needed to remove the CEO and a few people close to him, but the termination laws in China were a mess. He was taking a team of lawyers with him to make sure he got everything right. More importantly, he needed to choose their replacements.

As he went through possible solutions to his problems, he found a rose with symmetrical petals and no blackened edges. He clipped it and set it in the necklace box with the other two.

“This one’s for the ring,” he said, pointing to the rose he’d just picked, “and the other two are for earrings. They seem to be close to the same size.” He gently closed the lid.

Raul took the box and paused.

“Is there something you have to say?” asked Conor, wary of Raul’s opinion.

“You know I adore Charisse, but a ring so soon after everything she’s been through…”

Conor shook his head. “I know. I plan to hold off for as long as I can, but I know I won’t want to wait until these roses bloom again.”

Raul smiled and shook his head. “Very well. But I know you. You’ll ask as soon as it’s in your pocket.”

Conor had no defense. He gave a grin and shrugged. He always went after what he wanted. “Be sure the earrings are done and to New York by Tuesday. He’s already agreed to do it as a rush job.”

Raul set the ice chest down, opened it and took out two acai bowls wrapped in plastic. He handed the bowls to Conor and took the box, setting it on top of the ice. After he closed the lid, he stood up. “Your private plane will be ready to leave at noon. Darnell and his team confirmed they would be there.”

Conor sighed. “That’s not very much time. How much do you want to bet Charisse won’t want to talk about what’s really going on until I get back?”

“You’re very persuasive, Mr. Grishin.”

Conor shook his head, walking back to the front door carrying the breakfast bowls. He could be persuasive in a business deal, but everything with Charisse seemed too fragile right now. Still, they were a couple. A real couple. She needed to open up to him.

He walked inside, determined to get to the bottom of whatever was wrong with Charisse, but when he stepped towards the kitchen, he nearly dropped the bowls.

Charisse stood with her back to him, fixing a pot of coffee. She’d changed from her knit pajamas into a violet lace camisole with her perfect round ass peeking out at the bottom. Lust surged and took over his thoughts. Round one to Charisse.

The new version is available at All Romance and Smashwords. I’m waiting for it to push through to the rest of the vendors.

I also worked on another billionaire. I didn’t like the plain white background on this billionaire and tried an ocean background:

Let me know what you think because I’m unsure!

The Beautician and the Billionaire Episode 1 Re-Release!

Available for FREE at all vendors!

BBE1small

With the upcoming release of the final episode of The Beautician and the Billionaire, I’ve gone back and cleaned up some of the continuity errors that happen when writing off the cuff. The books in my Holiday Cafe series see a few drafts before they reach my editor, and then they see some more drafts after the first pass by Julie. But I didn’t have Episode 9 done before I started posting Episode 1. I didn’t even have Episode 2 done!

I’ve really enjoyed writing something so spontaneous. It’s been fun to add scenes based on reader reaction. That happened early on and then more recently with Episode 8. When I do another serial like this, I hope for more reader comments. That’s a big part of what makes writing a serial fun.

But I definitely had to make adjustments. For example, Raul is merely a driver in Episode 1. As the story progressed, I realized he needed to be more like a personal assistant because he had a much bigger role to play than originally planned. So I’ve gone in and changed all of Conor’s references to him to assistant rather than just driver.

Another error I had was when Conor first spoke to Becca. Originally he hadn’t spoken to her in three years, but as the story developed, I realized she would’ve been tormenting him all those years. So that’s changed.

I’m slowly getting the updated versions out to the public. I uploaded Episode 1 to Amazon yesterday, but they seem particularly slow and haven’t gotten the title updated. However, All Romance and Smashwords have the new versions with the new cover. If you’re new to my blog, the first Episode is free! Please check it out!
