Productive?

I’ve heard there is a whole genre of influencers who do productivity videos. They have every second of their day timed to get the most done. I have not watched them because just thinking about it exhausts me. Don’t get me wrong; I’m a hard worker. Two days a week I work 12 hours, and I only have one day that is truly a non-work day…unless a concert gets scheduled that day. What turns me off about the productivity videos is the optimization. I understand the importance of efficiency, but there is also…importance in…drifting.

A few years ago there was a push to get Maladaptive Daydreaming categorized as a mental illness. I don’t know if it happened or not, but I think most writers must have it. Maladaptive Daydream is when you get lost in imaginary worlds sometimes to the detriment of daily life. Of course it’s not a detriment if you can turn it into big bucks. Otherwise, maybe you have a mental illness. I embrace it though. Sometimes bedtime is the best time because I can just let my mind wander. I’ve decided it’s my brain’s way of sorting events, even if I’m not thinking directly about the events.

Today was a half-day of work for me, and then I was productive by getting bills paid and emails sent and the kitchen cleaned. I had planned more ways to be productive like sketching out a week’s worth of blogs and rewriting some chapters. Instead, my brain needed to drift and daydream. And I’m okay with that.

At Ma Charisse

I’ve mentioned on the blog that I am no fashionista, but I have loved following beauty blogs for inspiration for The Beautician and the Billionaire. I’ve even ventured out and bought new beauty products for myself.

Henna!

One of my most popular posts is Becoming a Fantasy Heroine: Hair. With the upcoming release of my urban fantasy romance Through the Painting, I thought it’d be fun to do some more in the Becoming a Fantasy Heroine series.

There’s no better way to kick it off than with henna tattoos!

I love the idea of tattoos being magical. Two of my all time favorite fantasy heroines are Xena and Gabriella. There’s a fantastic scene in the series where they’re getting elaborate henna tattoos:

This week, I got together with my girlfriends for a sort of post Valentines Day celebration. I hired an artist and all of us got at least one tattoo. She was amazing! So fast and skilled. Here are some pictures from the party: Continue reading

Puerto Rico: Clothes!

I went shopping tonight for some new clothes for the trip. Surprisingly, Target had better dressing room lighting than Kohls. The lighting in Kohls showed every flaw on my skin, which in a swimsuit is harsh! Target’s lighting was much more diffuse and therefore more forgiving.

What clothes retailers need to do is go to casino bathrooms and figure out how they do their lights. Because I look awesome in the mirrors of casino bathrooms. I used to think it was the three coffee and Baileys that I already had, but I went in one time totally sober, and I still looked good. We need to start a movement for casino lighting in fitting rooms.

But I digress. Here are my findings! I’m going to Puerto Rico!

Nails and Sale II!

My day is all out of whack. I had to take lover to the airport for a business trip waaaaay earlier than I ever wake up. But I didn’t want the day to slip away without a post!

Last week we attended a cocktail party, and these nails were a hit:

The glitter doesn’t have polish, so after I put the glitter on, I had to use the special nail art saver polish. I tried to use just clear nail polish, but that didn’t work at all. Make sure your nails are dry though before putting the nail saver stuff on because otherwise the colors run.

Remember, Corporate Fire is only $0.99 today and tomorrow!

Nails and Sales!

Good morning! I’ve been enjoying having fancy nails so much, that I went out and bought a nail kit:

I thought it had a lot of fun colors for the summer and tools that would make designs easier. The first thing I tried was using the fine tipped brush to make musical notes:

IMG_1722It was pretty tricky doing the nails on my right hand because I’m right handed, but overall I liked how they looked.

I’ll be posting some more pics this week of my experiments. Also, Corporate Fire will be on sale for $.99 starting tomorrow! Friday it goes up to $1.99 and next Monday, it’ll be back to full price of $3.99. I hope you check it out!
