BB Episode 3: The Third Ship Scene 3

Happy Thanksgiving!

IMG_2397

There’s a Starbucks in my Hotel, but it does not have free wi-fi 😦 So I’m going to hopefully pipe this post through the hotspot on my phone. I really didn’t want to skip today because:

  1. I have a lot of international readers and
  2. I neglected BB while I released Thankful Hearts and Veteran Hearts.

So if this actually works (my connection is very slow) and if you read this Thanksgiving Day post and leave a comment below, I will put the names of the commentors in a hat and draw one out to receive a $5 Amazon Gift Card. The Flash Giveaway will last until November 27 at noon Pacific Standard time. That’s a little less than 24 hours. Please comment on the story and Good Luck!

Charisse spent the next few days as a hollow husk. Outwardly she kept up appearances at work, speaking nothing of Conor owning the salon. She wore designer jeans with her favorite Manolo Blahnik pumps and sheer blouses with cami’s underneath. Her make-up was perfect and her curly hair pulled up. But inside she felt nothing but the chill of abandonment. Continue reading

The Beautician and the Billionaire Episode 3: The Third Ship Scene 1

Hello! Sorry the break was longer than expected! To remind you where we left off, I’ll post the end of Episode 2 below:

He should stop now. He wanted to take her out, show her he cared. But her fire was unmatched by any woman he’d been with. A fleck of guilt tried to blow through his thoughts. Was the memory of Elise fading?

Charisse slid her hand off his neck, placed it on his hand at her breast and pressed his palm into her. She kissed him harder and pushed down on his cock again. Heat flared between them. He wanted her now. He dropped his hands to the bottom of her blouse and lifted it up.

The bells on the door jangled.

They both froze. Charisse ended the kiss and pulled back with an embarrassed glow. She whispered, “I forgot to lock the door.”

He pulled her shirt down, blood still roaring in his ears from the rush of lust. She scrambled off him just as someone came around the shelf of products that blocked the view of the sinks from the entrance.

Marie. Fuck.

“And this is exactly why I turned down your offer to go to The Hamptons,” Marie said.

Charisse shrunk back, her clothes in disarray and her glow fading. “You offered to take my sister to The Hamptons?”

And now, please enjoy Episode 3: The Third Ship, Scene 1

Charisse tightened her arms across her stomach. She’d been so ready to let herself go with Conor right in her salon. They’d had a connection—at least he’d made her believe they had. But the Hamptons?

Her eyes glanced back and forth between Marie and Conor. She must’ve lost her mind. She’d let herself be seduced by his seeming sincerity and vulnerability, forgetting that he’d chosen Marie first. Forgetting the picture of Marie pouring a shot down his throat. Forgetting she hated suits.

Worst of all, she was business partners with Conor, through no fault of her own. Shoot. It was her fault. She was the one who hadn’t read her own contract.

Conor stood up and combed his fingers through his still wet hair.

Marie stood with her umbrella down in one hand, dripping water on the floor and holding the strap of her Louis Vuitton purse up on her shoulder with her other hand. She glowered at Conor.

“It’s not how it sounds,” said Conor. When his hand came down from combing his hair, his face resumed the slick “I can explain everything” expression Charisse loathed so much. “I offered Marie a job at my Hamptons house because she wanted to make a change. She wanted to work at the flower shop that delivers my roses. Considering her biology degree, I thought she might want to work with the actual roses instead.”

Marie flipped her straight black hair back over her shoulder and said, “So you could get me out of the way and make your moves on Charisse. I think it’s sick that you’re trying to fuck us to get back at Daddy for the lost ships. You should’ve just fired him and left us out of it. We didn’t do anything to you.”

It was as if a bomb had detonated inside Charisse. “What? Kissing me was about the ships? We were about to…” Charisse backed away and thought she might faint. It was bad enough being the second choice, but being some sort of payment…maybe she’d hurl first and then faint.

Conor reddened and clenched his fists at his sides. Marie took a step back, looking fearful but clutching her umbrella like she’d swing it at him if he tried to hit her.

Instead of yelling, Conor spoke in a quiet voice that chilled Charisse. He stared at Marie as he spoke. “Really? You’re going to lie about that in front of me? The salon is payment for the ships. Your father offered you up instead, and I refused. Or maybe you forgot that part of our conversation.”

Charisse’s vision blurred as her world shattered before her. Conor had to be the one lying because Daddy would never try to trade Marie as payment. Never.

Conor turned to Charisse. Pain had flashed in his eyes before a shield went up. His voice gained volume and lost its edge. “I had hoped to take you to dinner tonight. I’m sorry for getting carried away before your sister arrived. Believe me, it won’t happen again.”

Conor grabbed his tie from the chair where he’d tossed it and stalked to the other side of the partition.

Charisse listened for the bells to jingle and then took a deep breath. She opened her mouth to speak to Marie, but Marie beat her to it.

“I can’t believe you were making out with Conor the day after I broke up with him. You never consider my feelings at all.”

Charisse withdrew her shaking hand, making a fist in the hopes he wouldn’t see it. She’d been prepared for his cold business mask—the one she was sure he used when taking over companies. Instead he’d arrived with sincerity and honesty. She’d almost leaned in and kissed him when he told her why he’d been such a rat bastard after the shampoo yesterday. Continue reading

B&B Episode 2: The Contract Scene 7c

Sorry this post is going up so late today. I’ve been writing 6-10 hours a day since the beginning of September, but it all came to a crashing halt today when personal events collided. Remember if you’re anxious to read the end of Episode 2: The Contract, you can buy it at All Romance and now Amazon for only $0.99. I would truly appreciate your support. I love having people read my work, but I’m also trying to make a living at this 🙂

And now back to Conor and Charisse:

canstockphoto2171355

Strains of Mozart galloped through the air as Conor stared back at Charisse. He didn’t want to answer her question about the contract. Of course, he’d come prepared to sidestep it, but his desire to lean in and brush his lips against hers fogged up his brain. She’d looked like an orchid when he arrived, ready to lose all her petals if a gust of wind blew by. He could understand why her family tried to protect her. But then she’d changed into a rose right before his eyes—still delicate, but with thorns ready to defend herself. He shouldn’t have laughed when she’d yelled at him about yesterday. He should’ve apologized instead.

And then the phone call from whoever Josh was. It’d caught him off guard. No one had said she wouldn’t date him because she already had a boyfriend; they kept telling him she wouldn’t date him because she hated him. Thank God Josh was an ex. He’d been far too jealous in that moment for anyone’s good. Continue reading

B&B Episode 2: The Contract Scene 7b

canstockphoto12860300

Charisse hated herself for allowing Conor to see her unsettled. She was giving him so much personal ammunition that he could use against her later. He and Josh were the same ilk. Conor was just looking for weaknesses to use later against her.
The phone kept ringing in his hand. His frowned deepened, but it was somehow different. He didn’t seem mad at her anymore though she had no idea why he’d been mad in the first place. He leaned towards her and put the phone on the counter behind her where she kept the coffee maker. The phone finally went silent.

He gazed into her eyes, and she imagined him kissing her even as he slowly pulled back. The power he emanated seeped into her soul. She wanted him to protect her from Josh even though she had no idea what Josh wanted. But she gave her head a mental shake. She would not be weak. She’d just ignore Josh like any sensible woman. Not wish for a billionaire hero to save her.
Conor pulled back, but still stood close enough that the small hairs on the back of her neck stood on end like she was anticipating his touch.

Conor said, “Is he harassing you? You know you can block his number.”

“Actually, I’m sure he blocked my number. I never thought I’d hear from him again and he called just before you arrived. I didn’t answer it then either.”

His eyes searched hers. “Would you like to talk about it?”

Oh, God. She could not fall for this man. She’d been wrong. Conor and Josh were different. Conor had just been more concerned than Josh had ever been in the two years they were together. But she and Conor were business partners now. She cleared her throat and turned around, busying herself with pouring two cups of coffee. “No, I’d rather talk about the contract. I’m really confused. Is everything intact? It’s only twenty percent that you get right?”

She turned back around and Conor took the offered mug. She should’ve sat down in one of the chairs but she chose the French country style love seat instead. Conor sat next to her and they both turned towards the center to face each other.

Conor adjusted his tie again and took a sip of coffee. “I’m keeping the contract the same as it was between you and your father.”

Charisse took a sip too—the perfect Puerto Rican cup of coffee. It was her secret. “That’s not an answer. What did the contract say? Did you bring it with you? I’d like to read it.”

The Beautician and the Billionaire Episode 2: The Contract Scene 7

canstockphoto9830487Charisse stood, rattled by the unexpected call from Josh mixed with the tug at her spirit to reach out to Conor. It was the same feeling she had the first time she saw him—the desire to get to know him, to date him.

She waited for his corporate expression to slide back over his face, but it didn’t happen. Continue reading

B&B Episode 2: The Contract Scene 5d

canstockphoto2067979

Conor unfolded the contract, willing the adrenaline in his body to dissipate. He needed a clear mind now. Obviously the contract was going to be different than expected. He couldn’t let thoughts of Elise ruin his rationality.

As he took in the contract, he dropped his stoic mask and allowed his eyes to widen. He raised his head and saw Roy frowning at the clouds rolling in. Lightning flashed far away.

“You’re a bastard,” said Conor. “How did you even get her to sign this?” Continue reading
