Coming to a Kindle near you Saturday October 11! Enjoy a taste:

Sienna drove into the parking spot and stopped just before her tire hit the sidewalk. Her mind was a tornado of parents, students and other teachers vying for her attention at the end of the week. Even the cute pumpkin lights decorating the awning of the Holiday Cafe with their faint glow battling the dusk failed to calm her. She stepped out of her car and closed the door. The blur in her mind finally paused when her gaze fell on a witch and bubbling cauldron drawn on the door with window paints. The caption read, “Taste our Toil and Trouble Latte.” Ahhh. Despite the name, the thought of the latte yanked her out of the school whirlwind and settled her spirit. She’d been waiting all week for this moment.

She opened the door, expecting the aroma of coffee to wrap her in bliss, but instead desire fired through her.

Mark Townsend stood at the counter—the most sought after single dad at the school. When class lists came out at the beginning of the year, the other kindergarten teachers had swarmed her and rattled off his stats as soon as they saw she had his youngest child Tyler: millionaire, architect, thirty-eight, divorced, great butt. She hadn’t thought much of the other teachers’ excitement. Just twenty-eight herself, she’d always dated men much closer to her own age, and never anyone corporate. But when he’d strolled into her classroom the first day of school with his pride in his son and casual confidence, she’d known she was in trouble.

Becoming a Fantasy Romance Heroine: Jewelry

Maybe after a fantasy romance heroine has slayed the fearsome monster threatening the kingdom, she’ll get to wear one of these:

And win the hand of him:

Prince Nkuul Mehta

But while in the midst of her quest, a fantasy romance heroine must have practicality as well as beauty. Maybe even something with magic. One of my first aquisitions for my fantasy jewelry collection was this lovely butterfly ring:

I wore it out gambling once and the blackjack dealer wanted to do a side bet for it!

And while at the renaissance fair, my lover bought me a dragon earcuff. It’s my hope that a sexy shape shifting dragon made it, but don’t tell my lover that 😉

It went great with my hair:

Becoming a Romance Fantasy Heroine: Hair

Princesses, of course, get fabulous hairstyles:

But a heroine in a story needs something practical. I always felt sorry for Rapunzel and figured she’d shave her head the first chance she got. Notice how in the latest Disney fairytale, the heroines get simple hair: one braid or two for Elsa and Anna. Easy to manage.

And in the latest reality/fantasy TV show The Quest, the heroines look practically perfect even though they battle the forces of darkness. They don’t let their fashion suffer!

When I went to the renaissance fair with my lover this summer, I found an awesome tool for hairstyles that I love to use even in reality.

IMG_0593It has dozens of ways to form the metal rings, and it keeps your hair back in a bun or a ponytail so you can fight the villian without hair blowing in your face.

Of course, since I was at the fair, I also needed to get my hair done in braids with flowers and glitter sprinkled all over:

Becoming a Fantasy Romance Heroine

Dear Readers,

I apologize for my absence. I’ve been writing, rewriting according to the editor, and writing some more. It’s paying off because I have two books coming out before the year is done! Get ready for Halloween with my Contemporary Romance Masked Hearts, arriving on ebookshelves October 1!

And now, on with the blog:

It may appear that I’ve dropped the blog series: Becoming a Romance Heroine, but that’s not the case at all. Despite writing like mad, I’ve been trying to do it fashionably. Even my hairdresser was commenting about how great my hair is now…but that was probably for sales since I’ve been buying expensive product from her 😛

But today’s post is not about hair. It’s about becoming a Fantasy Romance Heroine. Fantasy Heroines are often either swordswomen or sorceresses. When my lover told me he was taking me to a renaissance fair this summer, I immediately went out in search of a sorceress costume. I have a weakness for magic.

One of the great things about being a sorceress at a ren fair is I could have cool nails with flowers and hearts. I think all sorceresses should have awesome manicures, especially if they shoot magic out of their fingertips instead of a wand.

How would you do your nails if you were a fantasy heroine?

Come back tomorrow to see my fantastique hair designs!

Please welcome Dee Tass to Flutters and Flirtations. She’s an erotic romance writer of female lovers, and part of the Absolute Erotic Blog Hop. Remember, all commenters on the blog this week get entered into a drawing for an Amazon gift card and a Starbucks gift Card!

1. Dee, your blog is new! I enjoyed your first Sunday Snog. Can you tell us what plans you have for it?

I’m trying to build an audience for my work, which is all still in progress right now. I also want to make contact with other authors writing F/F.

2. M/M romance has become really popular. Do you think F/F romance is about to hit it big too?

M/M has definitely opened the doors for the other strands of the rainbow, which is a really good thing. Readers are looking for more, so there is a growth in popularity.

3. Do you have a recent release? If not, tell us about your current work in progress.

Not yet. I’m currently working on a Steampunk story about a woman whose come back from the Boar War only to end up caught up in a galactic one. It has steam-powered devices, dirigibles and bug-eyed monsters, and is really fun to write.

4. I see you enjoy writing in a science fiction setting. Do you enjoy other genres as well? What is your favorite genre to mix with romance?

I love anything weird. I’ve written vampires, aliens, angels and werewolves. But I inevitably return to sci fi romance. Born and raised on Doctor Who, I’m a complete geek.

5. What feature makes you want to get it on with someone?

There’s nothing more attractive than a good sense of humour. Failing that, I have a thing for shoulders/arms. I have no idea why.

6. What feature turns on your main character the most?

Violet is drawn to Harry’s intelligence and the fact she utterly defies societal convention (like shortening her name to Harry, wearing men’s clothes and being an inventor).

7.Do you like to make a soundtrack for your stories?

Not always, but I do listen to music a lot. It has to be albums I know well, though, otherwise I’ll concentrate too much on the lyrics and not what I’m writing.

8. As an erotic author, how much do you enjoy writing sexy scenes?

I love them!

9. I’ve noticed on our forum that some writers do the sex scenes last after writing everything else in the book. Do you do the sex scenes first, last or as they come?

Come, heh. Ahem. Sometimes an idea strikes and I have to write it at that moment, or I’m not sure how what the fallout is going to be so I write that first. However, it’s usually as I go along.

10. If your story was turned into a movie, who would you like to see playing your two lovers?

Oh, Jaime Murray would play Violet, as she’s largely based on HG from Warehouse 13. I’m less sure about Harry. Possibly Jaime Ray Newman, though she’d have to dye her hair darker.

I love HG Wells in Warehouse 13! Thank you so much for joining us today, Dee! Readers, please ask Dee your own questions in the comment section!

Blog Hop Interviews

Dear Readers,

I’m truly disappointed in my lack of blogging this week for the blog hop. I’ve been sicker than I have in a long, long time. I did manage to put together all of Shifting into Love in one spot for your reading pleasure. I also was interviewed by Ana J. Phoenix, writer of hot M/M erotic romance. The interview should appear on her blog on July 5th.

I will be interviewing Dee Tass on July 6, a writer of hot F/F erotic romance. Actually, I’ve already done the interview and found her to be a real kick 🙂 Please come check it out! And please post some comments for her interview to welcome her and so I can giveaway some goodies. If you want to wish me good health in the comments for this post, I will add your names to the drawing!

Happy 4th!

Becoming a Romance Heroine: The Bondage Dress

I hope you’re having a fabulous evening. I know yesterday I said this post would be “the first date.” It still is, but since it’s the Erotica Blog Hop, I decided “The Bondage Dress” had a racier sound.

I’ve gone back and forth about posting the picture because I really didn’t pick out the dress thinking about bondage (it’s not my kink). After the comments in the Shoes post, I realized the dress looked totally bondage style. But I suspect every good romance heroine trying to snag her alpha male has something of a hint of bondage (like sandals 🙂 )

So here is the new dress I bought for my first date as a Romance Heroine:

502 (2)

It has a gold circular collar and then a long chain down the back (I know, how could I not think bondage on seeing it).

So now I had my nails done, my new shoes my lover bought me and my new dress. Here is the first date as a romance heroine written in the style of a romance story:

I stood at the door and took a deep breath. He hadn’t told me what we were doing that evening, so I could be way overdressed. And what if I looked ridiculous? This was way beyond my usual style.

I rolled my shoulders back and stood tall in my high heels. Fuck it. We always had fun and could just laugh off my attempt at being a romance heroine if I didn’t look as good as I hoped.

I let myself in and was immediately invited to the back porch by the sound of the fountain flowing outside. I stepped out onto the patio and saw he had a drink ready for me in a dark cobalt glass. He was dressed a lot more casually in shorts that showed off his muscular legs and a dark t-shirt, but the look on his face told me I had dressed exactly right.

“Hey Drake,” I said, clutching my purse in my hands. I still had something I needed to ask him and found myself nervous over that too.

Instead of saying anything, he stood up and offered me the blue glass. He watched as I took a sip, and I could feel heat between us even though we didn’t touch. I gave him back the glass, and he finally said, “You look great.”

My face flushed as I thanked him. “Could you do me a favor?”

His eyes were still taking me in as he said, “Anything.”

I rolled my lips together. “I need pictures for my blog, like of my shoes and nails and this dress. You know, for the romance heroine series.”

“I get to take pictures of you looking like this?”

I smiled and shed all my nervousness. I have no idea what he had planned for that evening, but whatever it was, we never got to it. I’ll close the door here since this is my actual life, but the rest of the night was smokin’ hot.

A few business details before I go: remember if you choose to follow my blog or post comments during the next to weeks, I’ll put your name in a drawing for an Amazon gift card and a Starbucks gift card. Please visit today’s blog hop interview at Anais Morgan’s blog!
