Some walk-in customers had followed the lady luvs in, and soon appointments arrived. The salon was packed all day. Conor left soon after everyone started working to do some of his own work. Charisse interviewed the manicurist Letti had found, while she gave Charisse a simple French manicure. Her name was Kari, and she was in her thirties. She had her shiny black hair cut in a stylish bob that was longer in the front than in the back. Her nails had a pearlescent polish with a few gems to be glitzy without being too flashy. The French manicure she gave Charisse showed her skills, and Charisse told her if she kept the customers happy that day, the position was hers. Continue reading

Conor held his hands out for quiet and said, “I know I only worked with you ladies for a short time, but I think all of you are great. And you deserve to have an owner far more knowledgeable in the salon business than I am. So I’m happy to announce that Charisse has taken over as full owner of the salon.” Continue reading

Shifting Into Love Cover Redo

A couple of months ago I was working on the cover of Shifting Into Love with a motorcyclist and the face of a woman. I never really got it how I liked it.

I’ve been working on it again with new skillz I got in class. Here’s my current idea:

SILred

What do you think? I’d really like some thoughts.

As far as the story goes, I’ll be taking Shifting Into Love off my site soon. When I wrote it as a crowd chooses romance story, I kept the story fairly uncomplicated. I’ve aways thought there was a deeper story to tell, which is what’s happening now. So if you want to read the original version, your time is running out!

The Beautician and the Billionaire Episode 9: Scene 10

Good morning! At least for some of you 🙂 I spent the weekend at the Colorado Renaissance Fair, and it was great. I’m afraid I have no pictures because I was just there hanging out and getting a much needed creative recharge as I shift into stories after The Beautician and the Billionaire.

Speaking of Shifting…I’ll post news tonight about Shifting into Love. I’m going to start posting twice a day on weekdays again and once on the weekend days. Please follow me so you don’t miss a post! I imagine a lot of you will be sound asleep when I post in the middle of the night 🙂

And now on with the last episode of The Beautician and the Billionaire:

Conor gripped Charisse’s hand as they walked through the hospital. Everything was going so well that he feared this visit with Roy would fuck it up. Continue reading

Conor rushed into his apartment and went straight for his bedroom. An empty bed stared back at him. The door to his bathroom was open, and the light was off. There was no indication she’d even been back there. It was early for bed, but since she’d fallen asleep in the middle of New York, he’d just assumed she would already be in bed. Continue reading

The Beautician and the Billionaire Episode 9: Scene 5

Good morning! I hope you had a great weekend! I started work on the next Holiday Cafe book and the publishing version of Shifting into Love. Lots of stuff coming up after Episode 9!

Conor touched a button on the steering wheel to end the call with Charisse and pressed down on the accelerator of his Bugatti Chiron. He needed to get to Charisse. He’d wanted to surprise her on Tuesday, but screw that. She needed comfort now.

The car felt like a plane flying through traffic, but Conor was only focused on getting to his destination and not the enjoyment.

After five minutes, he called Raul.

“How does she look?”

Raul answered with distraction in his voice. “She was pale before she went in to meet Gianna.”

“And now?”

“I’m just pulling up to get her…oh no.”

“What? What’s wrong?”

“She’s asleep on a bench in front of the hospital.”

“Asleep? Get me Dr. Beaumont’s number now.”

Raul’s voice sounded sharp. “Where are you, sir?”

“Halfway there.”

“And who’s driving?”

“I am.”

“Then I’m not getting you the number. She wouldn’t tell you anything anyway.”

“She should. I’m paying the bill.”

“You know better. If Charisse needs another doctor I’ll call one here. Now do you want to keep arguing and get in a wreck, or should I go get Charisse?”

“Go get Charisse,” he growled and hung up. He hated being useless. He should’ve left the mansion sooner, but the teleconference with his lawyers had dragged on. Darnell hadn’t been happy with Conor staying behind, but that’s why he got the big bucks.

Conor thought strategically it might turn out better. His lawyers could suss out the situation, bring the fear and then he could show up to make the heads roll.

He turned the music up and pressed down on the accelerator again. Raul would take care of Charisse. She was fine. But he kept driving faster like he didn’t believe it.
